Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n

The current research focuses on clarifying the types of gestures in space construal in oral staged discourse based on the corpus data of oral speech performed by the respondents. The applied methods of verbal and non-verbal units analysis specify gestures frequency and combination in the certain types of space: near, far, undefined, metaphoric. The activity of object description identifies the hierarchy of mentioning space in the speech of respondents: they tend to speak more of near, far and metaphoric space but seldom of the undefined space. As result the characteristic set of gestures for each space type is defined, for example, pragmatic and representative gestures for near, metaphoric and undefined space, and pragmatic and adapters for far space. The common typical gestures for all four types of space have become pragmatic structuring gestures, representation of discourse component part, contact building, representative gestures holding, acting, embodying as well as self-adapters.<\/p>\n
