The aim of the study is to identify semantic and discursive differences in the functioning of key educational concepts in the Confucian and American liberal-neoliberal contexts. Based on a comparative linguistic analysis of classical Confucian texts and U.S. educational policy documents, the concepts of the Confucian discourse \u2013 dao (\u9053), ren (\u4ec1), li (\u793c), yue (\u4e50) \u2014 are compared with the key terms of the American liberal discourse \u2014 \u201cliberal education,\u201d \u201cstandards,\u201d \u201caccountability,\u201d \u201cchoice,\u201d \u201cmerit.\u201d The scientific novelty of the work lies in the systemic comparison of these concepts as elements of the educational metalanguage, which reflects culturally conditioned models of conceptualizing education. It is shown that in the Confucian discourse, the lexical items form a semantic field oriented toward moral formation, the harmonization of social relationships, and the emotional development of students, whereas in the American discourse, the terminology forms a field of meanings associated with the measurability of outcomes, regulatory compliance, individual responsibility, and market principles. Special attention is given to li and yue as complementary components of the educational code, forming an integrated model of structural and emotional\u2013moral education.
