Repetition and paraphrase in informative texts of German oral monological public speech

Abstract
The novelty of the proposed study lies in the consideration of repetition and paraphrase as a means of verbalizing the basic linguistic and philosophical parameters of informational texts in oral monological public speech. The purpose of the study is to demonstrate the functions of repetition and paraphrase performed by these linguistic means in the texts. The hypothesis is that the functions of repetition and paraphrase in informational texts differ fundamentally from the functions performed by these stylistic means in social-ritual texts of oral monological public speech. While in social-ritual texts the main function of repetition is to have an emotional impact on the recipient, in informational texts the addresser resorts to repetition and paraphrase to ensure better perception and understanding of the text content by the addressee, taking into account that the text is presented to the recipient once in oral form. Research objectives: to demonstrate, using specific examples, the main linguistic means of objectifying repetition and paraphrase in German-language informational texts of oral monological public speech. The study uses descriptive, inductive, and deductive methods. The research material consists of popular science lectures and reports on various topics in German in the form of video recordings. The analysis confirmed the research hypothesis: repetition and paraphrase as stylistic devices contribute to a better understanding of spoken text by the recipient.
